Free Family Fun Day
On the first Sunday of every month, the Kansas City Museum welcomes visitors for free in a program called “Free Family Fun Day.” The program is supported by Friends of the Kansas City Museum.
On Free Family Fun Day, museum patrons can enjoy documentary films in the StoryTarium and presentations in the Visitor Center. Often, special guests are invited to speak at the Museum Visitor Center, where you can peruse books and collectibles about Kansas City and the Long Family history.
During the holidays, the Friends of Kansas City Museum present the Fairy Princess, who welcomes starry-eyed children who whisper their holiday wishes to her. Each child receives a special gift and enjoys a festive wonderland on the Museum grounds. For more than 20 years, the Museum has presented the Fairy Princess during the holidays, resurrecting a holiday tradition begun in the 1930s at the old Kline’s department store in downtown Kansas City.
The Friends of Kansas City Museum organization often coordinates member social events with Free Family Fun Day, in order to encourage interest in the Museum as supporting members.View a short video about the Museum Free Family Fun Days produced before the Museum restoration began.
